CREATOR STATEMENT

I wrote this script on a plane as an idea to submit to OutFest. At the time, friends of mine were going through the foster-adopt process in L.A., and more than once I was present when the children or the baby was dropped off with little more than a bag to first-time parents. There’s something intimate about witnessing the incredible moment of that interaction. It struck me that I could use that experience to emotionally anchor a short, humorous, film, in a way that tells the story through a very specific lens. The lens of a CODA navigating the dating scene in Los Angeles while wanting to become a mom.
